The legend is that there is a videotape that exists that whoever watches it will be dead within a week from exactly the exact time that person views the video tape.

So watch it at 7:10 PM, Monday September 13th, 1997 you will drop dead at exactly 7:10 PM, Monday September 20th, 1997.

Reiko discovers that her niece Tomoko (Yuko Takeuchi) who died under mysterious circumstances had in fact viewed this videotape (of alleged urban legend) exactly a week before she died.

And all of the other girls who watched the tape at the exact same time also died a week later at the exact same time.

Reiko goes to a log cabin in Izu Peninsular Park where the girls stayed on a weekend holiday and comes across the tape.

In a Paris Hilton style blonde moment, Reiko puts the tape into the VCR and watches it.

She then comes to realize that she now has only a week to live.

She turns to her ex-husband Yoichi Asakawa (Rikiya Otaka) for help.

And in an Anna Nicole Smith blonde moment- she gets him to watch the video.

Their young son Koichi (Katsumi Muramatsu) also puts in the tape and watches it.

Who says bad movies can't kill you?

But anyways Reiko and Yoichi must now discover the mystery behind the cursed tape and prevent their sudden check-in to the nearest mortuary.

They discover it may have something to do with a psychic Shizuko Yamamura (Masako).

So will they solve the mystery in time?

And is there anything they can do to stop the curse of the video?

Directed by Hideo Nakata and based on the novel by Koji Suzuki.

Rating 5 out of 5 Stars

The title is taken from a popular pop music show in Japan. The name of the show is Morning Musume. In the show, young Japanese girls are taught how to sing, dance and perform in front of an audience. The show has launched the career of many of today's great Japanese musical artists Moritaka Chisato, Aya Matsuura and Miki Fujimoto.

This journal will allow me to write down my musings. Hence the title Musings Musume.

And so now the adventure begins...
